Time-of-day synchronization

Decide whether or not the CP will forward time-of-day frames.

Depending on where the time master is located, the following two situations must be distinguished:

  • Time-of-day frames come from the subnet and are forwarded to the station.

  • Time-of-day frames come from the station and are forwarded to the subnet (LAN).

With some modules, specify the direction in which the time-of-day frames are forwarded. With modules for which forwarding can only be globally enabled or disabled, the CP can forward time-of-day frames in any direction.

If you have several CPs in your station, take into account the flow of time-of-day frames depending on the time-of-day master because you can forward time-of-day frames from one network to another network using the function described here making conflict situations possible.

If there is more than one CP in a station connected to the same network, only a single CP is allowed to forward time-of-day synchronization messages.
